About

The Brooklyn Bureau

The Brooklyn Bureau (bkbureau.org) is a project of City Limits, and publishes in-depth coverage and investigative journalism on Brooklyn and provides tools for civic engagement.

Funded jointly by the Brooklyn Community Foundation and the James L. Knight Foundation, BkBureau.org provides the citizens of Brooklyn—which, if independent, would be America’s fourth largest city—with in-depth reporting on matters of public concern, a forum for thoughtful debate of issues facing Brooklyn, and news from the borough’s myriad and diverse neighborhoods. The Bureau also provides tools for readers wishing to participate in Brooklyn’s cultural and civic life.

ABOUT CITY LIMITS

City Limits is a non-profit organization that strengthens awareness and engagement on civic, economic, social, and criminal justice issues in New York City and the national urban agenda.  We fulfill our mission by producing in-depth journalism and new media, and convening conversations that increase civic information. We publish CityLimits.org, the Brooklyn Bureau—with support from the Brooklyn Community Foundation and the Knight Foundation—and will relaunch the Bronx News Network this fall.  As the city’s leading civic news platform, we also provide job opportunities, resources, learning opportunities, and convene events.
