Our historic, progressive, secular Jewish and multi-cultural children's summer camp is seeking a full time, year-round Director to lead our camp into its second century. We are seeking a long term commitment from a dynamic, motivated, and enthusiastic leader with strong people and organizational skills to oversee management of the summer staff and programs, develop and further camper recruitment, expand our fundraising capacity and maintain the vitality of our community. You must be eager for a challenge and excited to grow an extraordinary and substantive camp, building on almost 90 years of remarkable history. We are looking for an outgoing "people person" with supervisory skills who can communicate the benefits of our camp to parents, who can hire, train, motivate and evaluate staff and change lives through a unique camp experience. The successful candidate must have a commitment to progressive values and a willingness to assimilate some knowledge of secular Jewish traditions and the particular history/traditions/values of our camp. S/he will possess a strong talent for verbal and written communication, which will be especially helpful in marketing and outreach to new families and building community.
Responsibilities
•outreach to new families, marketing, innovative promotion of camp. •non-profit administration including fundraising, payroll, budgets. •some degree of facility management. •building and developing camp alumni community and related activities •oversight of summer camp programming •staff leadership, management and recruitment •interaction with parents during camp and throughout off-camp season
Qualifications
Candidate should have experience with some or all of these areas, or equivalent experience. Candidate must live at camp in Massachusetts throughout the summer months and travel there regularly during the year to meet with maintenance staff and prepare for summer season. Our off season administrative office is in Brooklyn, NY.
Preferred
Best fit: innovative, organized, energetic leader with fundraising experience, demonstrated ability to work with board/volunteer committees, computer literacy, database/website management skills; patience and a strong sense of humor a definite plus. S/he will be joining a team of individuals already passionate and dedicated to this unique and rewarding journey. Education and Experience: Degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Non-Profit Management or related field; also experience with camp leadership, staff supervision, professional work with children.
